In his time he was
1979 - 1987 Chairman, Secretary and Member of Old Kilpatrick Community Council.
Billy attended lots of meetings and amongst other things helped to set up various local societies, such as The Old Kilpatrick Horticultural Society, including the first Annual Flower Show, Old Kilpatrick Gala Committee, The Local History Society and the Old Kilpatrick Art Club.
1981 - 1982 Chairman - Old Kilpatrick Gala Committee.
He was responsible for co-ordinating a week of indoor and outdoor activities to suit the needs of the whole village assisted by a small team of volunteers.
1997 - 1999 Member of "New Fort Campaign"
Billy was a founder member of the recently formed committee to explore the feasibility of excavating the Roman Fort in the Village.
